Areas of Specialisation
Dr Reece regularly cares for patients undergoing colorectal, upper GI, general surgical and urological procedures.  She has an interest in hepatobiliary and transplant anaesthesia as well as anaesthesia for trauma and acute pain.

Professional Experience
Dr Reece gained her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at University of Liverpool in 2005.  She carried out her postgraduate medical training in northern England and Dublin before making a move to Westmead Hospital in Sydney.  

Between 2012 and 2017 Emilia undertook her anaesthesia training, rotating through Mater Hospital, Gold Coast University Hospital, Queensland Children’s Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital.  She then completed her fellowship year at Princess Alexandra Hospital in 2018 in hepatobiliary and transplant anaesthesia.

Emilia began her public work at the Princess Alexandra, before moving to the Surgical Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) when it opened in 2021. Alongside her anaesthetic duties, Emilia is the Deputy Clinical Director of anaesthetics at STARS. Emilia’s private work is currently based out of North West Private Hospital.  She also works at Greenslopes Private and other hospitals in the Brisbane area.

Emilia has been an senior lecturer at University of Queensland since 2017.

Other Interests

Outside of work, Emilia enjoys keeping fit and spending time with her family and two dogs.
